Rare 2-door Jetta. 2-door lasted in US 'till around '92. Americans perfer 4-doors with trunks, so that is why Golfs(hatchbacks only) lag behind Jettas significantly in sales in the U.S. Supposedly it's the exact opposite in Europe and maybe the rest of the world. Do Europeans like 2-door Jettas more than 4-door Jettas? |

I've only ever seen one 2 door Jetta here in Ireland, the rest are 4 door. However, hatchbacks are more popular in 3 door form rather than 5 door. |

In Japan neither. My friend told me, that two people have imported two 19E-2-door-Jetta's privately for incredible high money. Today over here the last survivors are some of the used cars with the lowest prices. Often available for free. |

Obviously you should grab one of those free two door Jettas and flog it to a Japanese Jetta freak. |

The 2 door one I saw was LHD (I think), although it defo wasn't a USA spec one. |

You will lough, but we are busy with a similar project. since a while there is a friend's Polo reserved for the export to my Japanese friend. A 300-€ car, a 1984 Polo Coupé [Typ86C]. For just one reason: it has the VIN-no. ...137, actually the oldest known existing Polo Coupé. |

Indeed, it is USA spec. I can barely see the sidemarker... |
