Yes, and being a convertible it can be be a Futuramic 76 (only 973 built) or, more probably, a Futuramic 88 (9127 built) or a Futuramic 98 DeLuxe (3925 built)... |

1949 -1950 Oldsmobile .It cannot be a 1950 Futuramic Convertible Coupe 98 since those had a different grille and a new body style. Can be Futuramic 76 or 88 of 1949-1950 or a Futuramic 98 of 1949.Those had the same grille. 76's and 88's rode on a 119.5 inch wheelbase , the 98 on a 125 inches. To distinguish a 1949 from a 1950 one would need a view on the lateral rocker panels and side trims. |

Come on, Pilou, there are other ways to distinguish the 1949 and 1950 models, you must know that. In a front view like this one: the windshield and the hood ornament. First, you have only two-pieces windshield in 1949. Second, the 1949 hood ornament is a single rocket, fixed in the center of the hood. You can see the difference with the 1950 ornament shown here. Besides, this is a convertible (you can see the sun visors showing above the windshield). As this can't be, as you said, a 98, and neither a 76 (who retained the 2 pieces windshield) this is a 1950 Oldsmobile 88 convertible. -- Last edit: 2007-12-26 21:54:27 |

To be more specific, let's add that there seem to be, in 1950, 88 models with 2-pieces windshields, so this may have been changed at mid-year. And that "Futuramic" is only the new design of 1948 (for the 98) and 1949, advertised as such. I don't think its part of the model designation, at least in 1950. |
