![]() geocities.yahoo.com.br/ capri7003/cw311.htm See the above link for more details. It's a one-off ...so what should it be classed under.? Mercedes-benz ...or B+B(Buchmann).? Also ..is it a Coupe..or Proto.? (..as it was a prototype.!) This car was later made as a specialist road car as the Isdera Imperator 108i. -- Last edit: 2007-08-06 16:23:31 (antp) |

This car was the reason why I searched for this movie.. It is gorgeous! IMHO it should be named as b+b CW311 (although carrying Mercedes Benz name it sounds better lol). The story tells that the car was built by Buchmann's company, and the design was made by Mr. Schulz, who later founded Isdera. The car was equipped with Mercedes engine tuned by AMG (for that it carries MB stars). The car's name means the air drag coef. that is cW=0.311. There were rumours that Mercedes helped so much to develop this supercar because it was their unofficial "gun" against BMW's M1, released in the same years. Here you can see the official postcard from B+B - the reverse side with car's info: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-06-24 14:25:24 |

@paulius43: The real Story is - because of BMW had the M1, the Guys from Mercedes allowed Mr. Schulz (who former was an Engineer by Porsche) to badge the Car as a Mercedes under the Restriction - only this Car - wear this Badge. If they (bb) would build more of them - they gets in trouble. And the Fact, that Mr. Schulz worked in the Factory of Porsche - he built some Car, that no one would identify with Porsche. He takes some looks at the Mercedes C111 and ask NSU to built a doubled Rotary Engine from the Ro80 - but his "Money" wouldnt allow him that Engine. So a AMG Powered M100 from the 450 SEL. |

As a little kid, who grew up in the 70s and 80s the Buchmann cars were a holy grail. Everybody knew a bit but nowone knew anything about them. Pictures in magazines were scarce, there was no internet in them days, and a little boy like I was was impressed with the little information he got out of the yearly "Auto Katalog" or... ... or the obligatory card games. I so much loved the colorful paintworks of the B&B cars in these card-games (Auto Quartette). I still have these. I still get goose-bumps seeing the "bb" emblems on these cars ! bb forever ! -- Last edit: 2011-09-21 20:27:07 |
