Is it allowed for the number plate to be covering the lights like that?

Not much is covered, I guess that they are still enough visible. Quite complicated with these plates: on two lines the plate is too high :D Only other solution is to use a non-standard font like for the Camaro:

I’m trying to figure out why someone would want those tacky corner bumper pads? They are not big enough to be useful,
plus if they were bigger; then they would look would really extra tacky ...

Dont know if you have that in USA but here people (geenrally without taste) add them to the corner of the bumper, i guess to avoid scratches, just another stupid thing like when people adds (thank God this was a bit more form the 80s and 90s and not sen anymore) those reflectors to the whole car which hurts your eyes when you see it as it doesnt fit the car at all and makes it a bit ridicoulous.

It occurred to me that if you're using a great barge like this in the Alpes-Maritimes you might scrape the odd wall now and then, and these things might prevent minor damage :D

And this is a somewhat medium-sized American car, not as big as the Town Car!

I think these plates were used temporary on this car, since there are smaller plates available in France. This is by the way a 88 or 89 Continental, both years are identicle on the outside.
@ Chris: I planed on going to the South of France last summer with my 89 Continental, but in Switserland the altenator broke down. ;-)
