I thought it might be an Oshkosh, or even a KME. But the headlights are too big for both of them. |

I checked imdb.com and found out that this movie was filmed entirely in Seattle, WA. Doing a search I found that the Seattle Airport (SEA-TAC) uses Oshkosh Striker ARFF trucks. I can't find an exact match to this picture though so, no confirmation. |

I'm quite certain that the 6x6 airport crash truck pictured was made by Fire-X and it is rare indeed. It is not a Walter or Oshkosh. A similar Fire-X unit (c 1978, probably the same CFR) is found on page 77 of the book entitled Fire Apparatus Photo Album of the Crash-Fire-Rescue [CFR] Units, by Timothy Schwalbe (The Visiting Fireman, 1985). The Fire-X unit pictured in the book was in service at the nearby Spokane,WA airport and has identical lettering on the front of the cab. -- Last edit: 2010-05-20 07:53:25 |
