Judging from the grille and the hood mascot I would say it is a De Soto Airflow from 1936. The De Soto is based on the Chrysler C-10 Airflow of the same year. |

I just found another very interestin source about Airflows: http://www.airflowclub.com/How%20to%20Identify%20an%20Airflow.htm This tells me that here we have an 128" wheelbase car. The De Soto has only 115½" wheelbase. That would mean that it is a Chrysler C-10 Airflow Imperial Eight. But for me the grille looks more like De Soto SG Airflow Six of 1935. The year is definitely 1936, as before the spare wheel was mounted on the rear. Experts, tell me what you make of it! I am a bit puzzled. |

It´s two different cars with the same, or at least very similar colour. And you have picked them both absolutely right, the left one is a 1935 De Soto Airflow (SG) and the right one is a Chrysler Airflow Imperial (C-10) The article "How to identify an Airflow" is written and sketched by a close friend of mine Edvard Fogelmark, the Airflows are among my absolute favorites. I have spent lots of time in the swedish vehicles registration archives to track down the Airflows sold on the swedish market and found surprisingly many. I have at least 500 individuals at this point and I´m only about half way through the archives, there are 24 different archives spread all over the country so it´s not done swiftly. Most of the documents are handwritten, up til 1942, and some can be hard to read. Hopefully I´ll muddle through some day... |
