1956 catalogue : Link to "ameblo.jp" 1957 catalogue : Link to "ameblo.jp" Source of these catalogues. I see no difference in wheels. Agree with "Light Van" as part of the model name, though. |

Look at the cover of the 1957 catalog where the mother appears with the children ... The wheels have a clearly smaller diameter than the previous models. It is true that in that particular drawing they look the same but they probably reused an old drawing to save costs. Smaller diameter wheels were introduced in early 1957, since before there were no small diameter wheels in Japan for cars. |

Your first picture shows 1955-only model (notice the grille). In my linked blog it says : Very basic google translation : On that (very informative) blogsite, it doesn't say anything about any changes in 1957. Nor is this mentioned on the japanese wiki, except that from June, 1956 both front and rear suspension were changed to horizontal leaf type independent suspension (so still MY56, since Japan doesn't generally use a model year system). If there is a source (written, not brochures, because apparently brochures for these old japanese cars can be misleading, according to the first quote) where it says about any changes in 1957, I'd like to know. Thank you. -- Last edit: 2021-03-12 20:17:46 |

According to this text, it seems that the change of the wheels was in November 1956,so really the 1956 year is correct I think this photo is from 1955 or 1956 model ![]() |
