Volvo 245 |

Isn't that a later version, when it was renamed 240 ? |

well, it is very hard to tell exactly what is signed directly on car, because it is impossible to see it. 245 means wagon, 244 means sedan, till (I guess) 1984 they were signed 244 and 245 and later as 240... so... ![]() and also this one is an older model with different shaped turn signal lights in front and grille -- Last edit: 2005-12-03 21:03:26 |

I guess Volvo must have changed its designation system in late 1982 with the launch of the 760. But the US-spec 240's kept the quad-headlights look for a few years after. To make things even more complicated, US-spec models from that era (like the one pictured) didn't have "240" badges on the rear hatch. Just "DL". On closer inspection, that wagon has steel wheels and body-colored window frames. Could well be a 245. We need a Volvo expert ! -- Last edit: 2005-12-03 21:41:46 |

due to turn signal lights, this car is definitely older than 1980, since 1981, they were different shaped. |

The US market kept the older front, and the larger bumpers, for a longer period than the european market. I´m not sure about the year, but I think at least up til 1984. This one has the rear lights introduced on the 1981 model. -- Last edit: 2005-12-04 02:02:49 |

Maybe 1985? I have an 87 and the headlights/signals look a bit different. Google the front and rear of an 85... looks pretty close! |

This one has the short bumpers, so a 1981-82. The spoiler under the front bumper was only on certain models, the 6-cylinder GLE, the GLT/Turbo or the Diesel; it wasn't on the regular DL or GLs. The blackout trim around the windows would lean towards the GLT/Turbo models, though it looks like the standard alloy wheels have been replaced with bargain wheels. That would be my guess. |
