I think so, too. The door-handles are typical. |

round bonnet top identifies it as a Land Rover FC 110 1 ton 4x4 cargo c 1966..its a civillian vehicle, not the military pattern..the civillian version was trialled by the british Army but dropped in favour of the similar all military 1 ton Land rover FC. -- Last edit: 2007-11-18 15:08:03 |

Well worth listing then ![]() But is "FC 110" its real name? We have few "101 FC" and a "110” Series IIb FC": /vehicle_86567-Land-Rover-110---Series-IIb-FC-1966.html -- Last edit: 2007-11-18 18:54:03 |

Is a Land-Rover 109" Series IIa FC (1962-66), the direct forerunner of the Land-Rover 110" Series IIb FC (1966-72). We have another one with an ambulance body here: /vehicle_105568-Land-Rover-109---Series-IIa-FC-1962.html As far as I know the South African Army used these trucks. Note the roof hatch. |

The British army did indeed trial them in 1962, but they decided they were not suitable for their needs at the time. The 101 FC wasn't even an idea at that time. It wasn't until the late 1960's when the Army realised the existing 109" 2A wasn't suitable to tow their new field guns that the Army asked Land Rover about designing a vehicle to do the job. they could have modified the exisitng 110" 2B, but instead decided on a clean sheet design that has more in common with the early Range Rover than any Series Land Rover. |
