Conquest Century? ![]() |

Seems to be a Century as chrome windscreen trim (appropriately that info is from Glass's). Also this strange comment on a non-Century page .. so if it has wing mirrors it's apparently a Century (which seems a very odd way of Daimler differentiating the trim levels, but so be it). Apart from the plate info, SOM 789 seems invisible to googling. |

It is my practice to fit wing mirrors to any of my cars that are old enough to need them. To use the presence of wing mirrors as an aid to identification is not conducive to accuracy. The absence of them may be a bit more believable. |

This is indeed a late Conquest Century Mk1. Mirrors have nothing to do with whether or not it is a Conquest or Conquest Century - definitely not a feature Daimler ever employed that could be used to differentiate between the two models. The external differences between the two models remained unchanged between 1954 & 1958, with the exception of the position of the jacking points on the Conquest Mk2. |
