not necessarily, here a 1962 220SE speedometer ending at 210Km/h here a speedometer of a 1965 W112 ending at 220 https://hymanltd.com/vehicles/5112-1965-mercedes-benz-300se-coupe/ Link to "i.pinimg.com" here W112 023 12 00001 the very first one with 220Km/h, too While chrome strip belt line + chrome arches usually indicates 300SE the plate gives a hint, too but here a 250 SE with 220Km speedometer and same chrome trim https://superclassics.eu/de/listing/mercedes-benz-250se-1967/ in fact a 280SE can be excluded by later horn ring ![]() 220 SE speedometer 210Km/h 250 SE + 280 SE speedometer 220Km/h W108 240Km/h 280 SE 3.5 240Km/h a wild mixture of different epoches at first sight, but that is quite commen for W112 featuring older details like chrome interior mirror and bakelit steering wheel until the end, for e.g. the hub caps are early style but let us go by timeline first: 07/65 wheels changed to single piece hub caps 14" but here a 1967 15" wheel 300SE Link to "static.carthrottle.com" a 1965 300SE with 14" https://www.car-editors.net/artikel/detail/36448 XX/65 W108/109 color is 861 Silbergrün metallic (Silver Green metallic) 11/67 mirror position + wider W108 grille mash not before 1967 gives a hint for MY... excluding a 250SE in robe of 300SE XX/67 8 lights if original which might be doubted and it is an Automatic https://vimeo.com/257962332 that grille came in 11/67 prod of both ceased 12/67 so this can be either a 11/67 or 12/67 All this can be retrofitted of course no such thing as the final prove... 1968 250 SE Cabriolet [W111] 954 1968 300 SE Cabriolet [W112] 2419 my personal opinion: In Germany it is quite commen to use type in plate beeing 300 |

credits to Paul Bracq for this masterpiece! Yes - ingo that is the case with many other 1967 built W111/112 Coupés and Cabriolets The explanation could be: old rims 15" wheels while August 1965 ones are 14" so it becomes a question of the longer final drive. Maybe you had the oportunity to choose between them? https://www.classicdriver.com/de/car/mercedes-benz/w111112/1967/518292 here the best W112 costs 139.000€ built 1967 Link to "www.classic-trader.com" another question is, absolutely no W112 found with wider grille mash, yet... here a 1967 250 SE looking majestic with old rims https://www.classicdigest.com/de/cars/mercedes-benz/250se-coup-w111/150341 |
