1976 Vanden Plas 1500 (ADO67). I think 1975 had different hub caps.

If you can find an Allegro with a hatchback, I’ll buy it!

(Not counting the estate version, of course.)

The identification is correct, but it ain’t a hatchback.

The one my mum had was.

The thing above was named as Vanden Plas. There were no others.

This is a Mk 3 car, called either 1.5 or 1.7.

And the plate confirms it as an 1.7.

"The Mark 3 was introduced in October 1979 with slight name changes. The manual transmission model retained the 1485cc engine but now received twin SU H1F4 carburettors to give 77bhp at 5750rpm. This was now called the Vanden Plas 1.5. The automatic transmission model received the 1748cc 'E' series engine with a single SU HS6 carburettor giving 72bhp at 4900rpm. This was called the Vanden Plas 1.7. Externally the Mark 3 differed by having a flat boot lid, black surrounds to the front and rear windscreens, black door mirrors and side indicator repeaters on each front wing. Internally a radio and front seat headrests became standard and the interior door handles were now black instead of chrome. The Vanden Plas factory at Kingsbury closed in July 1979 with all remaining cars being finished at MG Abingdon. Mark 3 production ceased in August 1980 after 752 manuals and 232 automatics." from here.

Comparison of GS Pallas vs. VdP Allegro 1.7 automatics (D654 ESS - apparently not sold until 1986, 6 years after production end)

Funny, I searched "Sex Education" at IMCDb only after seeing this Vanden Plas in one episode, to make sure - and it's the only car from the series described so far :D
