The Estate version was introduced in April 1961. But I'm a bit bothered about the bumpers in the same colour as the body, which would indicate the older 950 cc model... |

the change from the 948cc engine to 1147cc comes with model-year 1962...so it's normal to have earlier Estate with these bumpers |

Il est exact que la version "estate" n'a jamais existé en 948cc. Tout les breaks sont des 1200. Quant au passage généralisé à ce type de moteur pour la gamme Herald, c'est février 1961. |

considering the painted valances (no rubber bumpers) and the lack of the normal Estate number plate light and trim, how about a Courier van with windows put in? There was no 948cc Estate in production. Looks like it might JUST have the "TRIUMPH COURIER" badging across the tail gate |

That's a very interesting proposition... Indeed the rear side windows are slightly different from those on the Estates: see the rounded edges near the doors. When was the Courier introduced? |

"The van was launched in Feb 1962, based on the estate but with the plain grey trim that could be found in the basic 948 saloons, including less padded seats and the 948 S grille." source: oldclassiccar.co.uk 1962-1966 confirmed by austin-rover.co.uk I cannot say definitely if it is a van or estate but there is a small piece of chrome trim on the top of the rear pillar that only appeared on the estate. |
