A rare version. The 1PZ engine was only offered in Europe for two years. |

Just wanted to confirm with the VIN. The P on the end of the chassis code is not necessary. Code should be [PZJ75]. I really beg to differ. These past few days, I've been listing all of the J70 Land Cruiser chassis codes (four pages!) and those suffix letters do have their importance. First, contrary to Toyota's usual practice, they're not limited to JDM models. Let's take the basic BJ70. It means short wheelbase, open top, Diesel B engine. The same model with a metal roof is BJ70V. Meanwhile, and this concerns our entry here, until 1999 and the move to a different set of J70 codes, both pickup, chassis cab AND troop carrier shared the same J75 codes ! The pickup/chassis cab had **J75P, while the troop carrier had **J75V. This is a rather complex subject, and I've waited a few years before daring to explore it, but there is a certain logic in there, and deleting these suffix letters, where the exact chassis code is known, obviously, would be, dare I say, detrimental. |
