Three Jaguar MkIV's. The photo was taken on the dockside at Southampton. Presumbly this was a publicity photo of these cars being exported to America on the Queen Elizabeth. Does the windscreen sticker say 'Another Jaguar Export'? Or is it my imagination? And why are they right hand drive?

The windscreen stickers do say that, and I don't believe it. Those are Southampton trade plates; I think they've just grabbed some Mark IVs from the local dealer and slapped the stickers on for the photo.

The trade plates didn't bother me as I thought they might have put them on to move the cars from round the docks or to remove them from the bonded area. But if you're smart enough to capitalise on the chance to get some publicity, why leave the drivers sitting in the right hand seat? A mystery. I wonder if this is the first post-war passenger sailing of the Queen Elizabeth in 1946. The Royal Family were there so it was a major event. BTW, how on earth do you read the windscreen stickers, chris40? Should I have got to Specsavers? :D

With some difficulty, I admit. I have to take my (Specsavers) specs off; I've only got a laptop :wow:
