Finally convinced now that the before accident car is a different Spitfire; just possible in the TV series to see it is actually red. |

Agree night shot a different example - has rubber insets on over-riders. I swithered whether it's a Mk4 in the gloom but Mk3 seems OK. |

In the episode, the vehicle was a "cut and shut" model. A "cut and shut" vehicle is a type of lemon vehicle that has the front and rear from two similar-type vehicles welded together. Which is all very well for something like a rough Spitfire, but if you have a MkVI or R-type Bentley and want to shorten the chassis to build a special, they insist on applying the same rules. |
