OR 1900 was a Hampshire issue, Oct 1922 to Jan 1926. There were several non-factory T conversions from different English workshops - names I've seen mentioned include Aeroford, Crewford, Bishop, Goodyear, Maiflower, Whitehead. No real info but a hint that a lot were sporty. This has a taxi smell, maybe similar to the mid-20s Austins?? |

Ford built the T here in their Trafford Park, Manchester, factory from 1911. Local coachwork was available and this example certainly has possibilities as a taxi. It has always puzzled me that the T did not break into the London taxi market, since it was cheap, rugged and universally available, but the dead hand of the London taxi office and the large engine capacity resulting in high annual road tax wouldn’t help. |
