46 onwards had a new grille, this shows the older design.

^ the 1946+ comparison - http://www.classiccarportraits.co.uk/pages2/Morris10_M4048.htm - new grille was Sept 46, so the first year of postwar production (Aug 45) was same as pre-war.

Comparing rears from here shows diddley squat difference between old grille blue car and new grille green car - except maybe new grille car has extra reflectors and shinier fuel cap, but these are not evident on the poster comparisons, and the 1946+ poster's over-riders are not seen on either photo car. Sept 1938-39 production was apparently 27,020, postwar 80.990.

Changes in legislation in the 1950s meant post production alterations had to be made to the rear lighting and reflectors of many cars of this sort of age, and cannot therefore be used to date cars in the absence of other evidence. The changes also applied to the front lighting, rendering single dipping headlights illegal and putting paid to the Wolseley night pass system iirc.

The reflectors on the two examples above are, by the looks of it, owner fitted parts to meet the legislation. Many cheap prewar cars had only one rear light, which also served to illuminate the number plate. Not certain about brake lights, I’ll try to find out.
