I presume that is how we list the chassis code? Based off the motor? I am learning about the older cars a little at a time. |

They had body and engine code for these series. It would have 1519 for the 6-cylinder engine version or 1619 for the V8 engine version as this example shown here. As of this example here, I was looking if this one has 'Chevrolet' script or 'V' badge at the centre of the bonnet just above the grille (see 4th thumbnail provided by AleX_DJ here). |

Yes, there are more than one V8 engine configuration at that era: 283 and 348 CID with different types of induction method. The venerable 235.5 CID 6-cylinder 'Blue Flame' engine dates back to the 1930s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_straight-6_engine#235 |
