I´ve noticed that it´s very common in german literature to just write the year of introduction or change for a model instead of the more commonly used modelyear. It can be somewhat confusing, and both are in ways correct. But I think it´s better to use the modelyear since it´s the way they are known for the public. -- Last edit: 2005-10-29 20:21:17

In Germany it is not as common as in the US to label a car with a model year. Cars are introduced into the market when they are ready/avaiable and very often stay unchanged for a number of years. Therefore I always use the actual year when a car was first produced. In literature very often the months of introduction to and withdrawal from the market are given.
