@kegare, Thank you for the details. Yes some of the pics you reference look like a modified WC. Others look standard with oversized tires and wheels. Changing the wheels from 16" to taller was not uncommon. There was a similar 5 bolt pattern on Ford (2 ton? I believe) trucks of the day with 20" wheels. This permitted the use of the very common CCKW size tires. Some of the referenced pics have winch grilles and others do not representing several different models. There is certainly a pattern of modified WC in the North Korean productions as you point out. It is unlikely these vehicles were actually "made for movie" in 1970 but rather used from existing vehicle stocks with a star painted on the hood. From the pic above the vehicle has no visible modification for a non standard WC51. |
