"Newcastle Transport", fleet #212, matching the digits in the number plate.

Odd. BLOTW says no 212 in the fleet. However, the fleet no’s did match the plates in most cases.

I was advised this was a Leyland Titan PD2, but I don't have the detail.

I certainly would not argue with that, but there is only one 212 in the whole BLOTW fleet list for Newcastle, a reversed combination from 1961, 212 JVK, a PDR1/1 with Weymann coachwork, and the engine's at the wrong end on this one!

Having looked at BLOTW again in a bit more of a slow time the following thought is offered. Although the years on the BLOTW site go back to 1937, the buses in the Newcastle record do not go back before 1940. Is it possible that 212 was a pre-war bus and therefore not shown in the record?

The problem with this theory is that the subject bus could not then be a PD2.
