I'm not familiar with New Zeeland cars, but to me the MG Magnette look different. I'd say this is a vanden Plas Princess 1100. |

I don't see wing indicators so probably not Mk2. Therefore 1100 Mk1 or 1300 Mk3 and impossible to split from front. I'd be very surprised if local build happened for VdPs, so imported. My ADO16 bible describes NZ ADO16 builds for Austin, Morris, Riley, MG and Wolseley but does not mention VdP. VdP exports were fairly strong in first few years until 1969, but only 36 were exported in 1970 and then only 8 during 1971-74 before production ended June 74. So Mk1 much more likely here than Mk3. |
