I think we need to review the classification of London taxis as “sedan”. They have a division between passenger and driver and are therefore “limousines”. If the management cannot accept this then how about “taxi”. A sedan, in my book is defined as a closed car with all the seats in one space. |

BTW, it’s an Austin FX3, again. |

The "limousine" category was rather for cars that are longer than usual (stretched or factory), even if that discussion about the division came often. Taxi is more a type of use than a real car body style. |

I'm not sure what we'd gain by changing taxi systems. Agree it might make the various UK black cabs look tidier, but then things get complicated elsewhere. What would we do with Austin FLs which may or may not be taxis or more recent UK MPVs used/converted as taxis, alongside their normal civilian equivalents?? And US yellow cabs would be a nightmare to sift between cabs and normals. Would we need to make all Checkers into taxis, which I think is what they were designed for, although some were then given civilian variations?? My feeling is leave things as they are - everyone knows the system and we don't get recurring hiccups. It has the odd quirk (eg we enter FX3s as FX3 Taxi but leave FX4 as just FX4) but little moments like that are part of the fun. |

Even if the model is made exclusively for taxis, there are other cars with same kind of shape (what I mean by body style). -- Last edit: 2018-12-22 18:19:59 |
