No "just XLT" trim in 1992 but XLT Lariat, while XLT and Lariat are 2 different trims in 1997. When did Ford separate the upper trim into these 2 parts? During the 1992-96 generation or just for the 1997+ one? |

1993 was the first year for XLT as a standalone trim (also XL as the base model was called Custom in 1992). Lariat did not become its own trim until the 1997 F-150 redesign. Prior to that Eddie Bauer was the top trim for the F-150 from 1994 to 1996. Here is an excerpt from the 1993 F-Series brochure that i found online, confirming this. |

The picture is quite small, here's a link to it where you can view it larger and clearer. Link to "www.autopaper.com" |

Thanks for the details, Truck Guy. Just to be a bit more precise: from what can be seen in the -already linked- 1992 brochure, the 1992 Custom trim didn't become the 1993 XL "outfit", as both were available in 1992. The Custom name simply disappeared in 1993, downgrading therefore the XL as base model. -- Last edit: 2018-11-08 07:14:41 |
