Haha, I only saw those construction platforms ...
Now that I remember, I passed the Gedächtniskirche with the subway a long time ago...

@rljuna2: :hello: Maybe it's interesting for your database: here we have an illuminated sign with a political-ideological meaning. Seriously, the Mercedes Benz-star (also turnable) on the buliding in the background, the "Europa-Center" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europa-Center ) was (still is?) the biggest Mercedes-star of the world. It was distinctly constructed and placed as a sign of the free, Western capitalistic world. So big and so far above (and illuminated), that it was visible from East Berlin.

In the foreground right annother illuminated symbol with an own story. Even two stories, to be precise. "Dortmunder Union" was a beer brand ( http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dortmunder_Union-Brauerei ). Already disappeared (resp.merged with all the former local competitors to someting face- and tradition-less), but the logo, the "U" became a landmark ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dortmund_U-Tower ) for the town - an illuminated one ;)

There's annother well-known illuminated "U" (also turnable) in the town, on top of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westfalenhallen . But since some weeks the "U" is only on one side. The other side of the big sign was rented by the company (an insurance), where I'm working for. With this illuminated sign they made someone really pissed - the CEO of annother insurance company, located directly besides. When we had a big event there, the sign was fixed, so that our company-logo was shining directly into the CEO's office :D He became so mad, that on the next morning he cancelled their own endorsement contract. :)

P.S. In Berlin there was even a little "war of the illuminated signs" in the Cold War-times: http://www.potsdamer-platz.org/die-freie-berliner-presse-meldet.htm Each side has erected an own.

Hi, :hello: ingo, in our lighting database show little of the indirect lighting system. Mostly showing the neon sign lights and some of the backlit signs fitted with the newest LED lighting. Here I found one not far where I worked that was installed around 2008/09 and now it is really dimmed/burned out posted at LED Power Sign :p

The variety of the quality of LED is very big. Very poor is the solar-LED, which shall illuminate of house-number (left of the door, the "19A": http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/338/img0450cl.jpg/ ) Total junk. But it only had cost 5,99 € or so.

Next year my solar-pocket calculator will be 30 years old: http://casio.ledudu.com/images/calculs/casio/machines/fx85.jpg :)
