Perhaps a mazda 360 wagon.....?

This small wagon is really bothering me. I also think it might be some odd Japanese car.

I think that most of these older Japanese cars were only RHD...

I think the creased flank line too high, and door handle too low, for R360.

I'm afraid that bumper and rear wheel arch are different...

the later 1964 version had different arch trim and bumper

How about a CONY? They made a small wagon.

 What dou you think about an Renault 4 with a selfmade back after a crash? The silhouette of the side looks quite R4-ish for me...

This car has only two doors:

(01:04:06)

So I think it can't be a Renault 4 with just a the rebuild of its back after a crash. So far, I only know 2 "coupés" from the R4 : the (single copy) "coach Bertin", who always stayed in France, and the Renault Mini 4S, only build in Uruguay.
There might be a lot of others, of course, I just don't know them :)

Even if the one of the movie looks a little like the second body of the Mini 4S:

(Picture found on "la Renault 4S en Uruguay", an history of the Mini 4S -in French)

... the movie is said to have been shot in Colombia, not in Uruguay (which is somewhat far away). And for me the rear doesn't fit, anyway (with different lights, different side windows, etc.).
I'm not really keen on the R4 lead...

:wow: interesting catch!

Anways, I'm still very R4-convinced...
Not to forget, that the car on the pic has 4 doors.

Look carefully on the pic I put, you'll see only 1 door on that side (I cannot say for the other side, but there is chance it's the same number :) )

EDIT: And it even has two doors!

The Compagno had split rear doors and a different roof - it's something else.

Wild guess..can this be something Hino or Hino based, given its ties with Renault at the time?

That must have been quite a crash that turned it into a totally different car.

I can't suggest anything here, but in Colombia in the 1960s, there were some interesting variants of the 2-door Renault 4 break/utility/van-something-or-other with this uncharacteristic/odd back-end:

Now if only someone could find the pictures of the rear...

@Ingo might be onto something.

Edit: thanks to @Weasel1984 for posting the link, I forgot do it for some reason

So here we see one - 1st pic at the top of page -> Link to "www.elcarrocolombiano.com"

and here it must be back end of the very same car -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDUXgL3LhFM (same plate and the same owner what mentioned in article linked above)

The rear is unfortunately different than of the car in movie. Taillamps are not original, but doors are too big.

Anyway it is good trace IMHO! The sides of the movie car are indeed like in R4 and now we know that such conversions existed. Perhaps there were more types of these Colombian "breaks" with different body shapes or some people built unique vehicles on their own. Linked site shows period advert of chassis-cab (with 2-doors).

PS. Other possibility is that it was heavily rebuilt in the meantime and doors has been enlarged - are not original...
