These trucks are in the 5000 series, so it's either a 5100, 5400, or 5700. But the wheelbase on this doesn't look short enough to be a 5100. |

This is a Cab-Over-Engine model from the 1947-55 Advance-Design truck line. All COE of that era were 5000-Series, so having both in complement is redundant. As already said by Ddey65: 5100 to 5700, depending on the wheelbase. Some more details given by the picture: • As Advance-Design COE stake, it can't be a 5700, whatever the model year is. The 5100 stake is only possible as 1947-48 MY; • This stake is a High Rack one (66.125"/1.68 m high stake sides), which was only possible on a 1947-50 5400 basis. The Chevrolet code for this model was 5419 (see the previous link). (To be as precise as possible, there is also a 5419S model, where the "S" stands for "Special": as far as I understand, 5000S-Series and 6000S-Series were 1½-ton only models with all internal specs of the 2-ton ones. But I think they were anecdotal models, as the literature about these "light heavy-duty models" is almost nonexistent) Nothing in this picture can help us to give this truck more than the 1947 default year: 1947-49 heavy-duty models were not identified with the 4100 to 6700 numbers, the generic Loadmaster name was used instead. ⇒ 1947 Chevrolet Advance-Design Loadmaster High Rack [5419] or ⇒ 1947 Chevrolet Advance-Design Loadmaster COE High Rack [5419] (if we want the COE cab to be more highlighted than with just the chassis code?) -- Last edit: 2015-02-07 22:05:48 |
