The line on the side looks more like the Skylark than the Wildcat according to the pictures I found on Google :??:

It's obviously a Skylark, as it was also reported to be so on another fan site

I had a '68 Electra 225. All sheet metal was pretty much the same on all '68 "big Buicks". Only the trim items varied from one model to another (Skylark, GS400, Wildcat, Le Sabre, Electra 225...).

I still think it's a Wildcat. The "Skylark" has different deco trim behind the front wheel openings (two, long horizontal trim pieces). The "Wildcat" has a series of vertical hash marks, as may be seen even in this (dark) photo.

That's not easy :/
The line on the side looks different, and we do not find here the rest of a missing part in the middle of the grille (that the Wildcar has on your picture)
Maybe it's another year that 68 ?

It's definitely a '68. The side trim threw me a bit too and the grille being missing does not help, but the '67s and '69s bear no resemblance.

I stand by it being a Skylark too as the GS series lacked the chrome side strip that this car still has.

The Wildcat, Electra and Le Sabre used a completely different body as they were much larger cars. The Skylark and GS were "intermediates" or "mid-size" and the Wildcat, Electra, and Le Sabre were "full-size".

It was a lively debate!

I stand corrected once again.

I had to pull out the photos of my old '68 Electra 225 to see that the side sweep molding is DIFFERENT on the full-sized Buicks [like the attached URL for a "Wildcat" of 1968].

On the full-sized cars the molding dips down behind the door, like on the "Skylark" but then straightens out and ends at the rear bumper.

So I guess I owe you a beer!

This car is a 1969 Skylark Custom convertible. The 1968 model has vent windows and different trim on it't front fenders. There are a few other differences also.

I can't see the reat side markers on this picture. Did you see them in the movie? You are right about the hood, it comes from a 1968 GS.

Note that "Skylark" is written on the rear fender. I could have checked that when I uploaded the first picture, it would have made things easier :D

It has 1969 (rectangular) rear side markers. The only 1968 part I see is the hood.

Here is my $.02, 1968 and 1969 are the only years of that body style. The rear bumper looks to be 1968. In 1968 the "reverse lights" (white lights) were in the taillights next to the brake lights. In 1969, the "reverse light" was placed in the middle of the bumper above the license plate. It is hard to see in that picture, but I do not see the light in the bumper. There were very subtle differences between these two years...and yes, I own a 1969 custom convertible.
