1958 Edsel Pacer is my guess. |

It seems to appear as a real car (of the same color as the drawing) just under the advertising a little later:![]() -- Last edit: 2013-07-21 19:10:17 (Sandie) |

The drawing is a 58. The actual vehicle parked on the street is a 59. You can see the part of the grille that wraps around to the front fender in the drawing. This is not found on the 59. Also on the 59 the "horsecollar" grille is integrated with the rest of the grille. This piece is separate on the 58s and there is no horsecollar on the 60 models. -- Last edit: 2007-04-17 05:30:57 |

Tex was spot on...the billboard is supposed to be a 1958 Edsel Corsair...the giveaway design cue is the so-called "log" that was imposed on the front fender in order to blend with the Mercury-shared door profile. Note the long horizontal bulge above the *black* body side molding. Pacers and Rangers didn't have the "log" since their fenders blended into Ford-shared doors. The actual car, a 1959 Corsair complete as seen in the film with futuristic fiberglass bolt-on "stuff", can still be seen on the Universal Studios back lot along the studio tour tram route that originates from the theme park. |
