1952 170 SD built in San Martin = first Mercedes factory not in Germany but Argentina, but it seems a special model with quarterlights and higher roof, or is it just distortion ? https://www.arcar.org/mercedes-benz-170-sd-en83435 prod started Sep 1951 the 'black ant' Taxi 170 SD was quite commen sight in Argentina Link to "www.daimler.com" Link to "de.wikipedia.org" edit higher roof window shape and no C pillar you can see through the whole car there even is the back of a man visible, were usual there would be sheet metal! >>> a possibly 1954 wagon not a sedan maybe an ambulance or something Police mil. etc. https://auktion.catawiki.de/kavels/8036535-mercedes-170-sd-kastenwagen-1954 -- Last edit: 2018-05-24 15:34:35 |

- Was the 170 SD a special model for Argentina? (roof mounted wipers, quarterlights) They just had introduced the 170 DS back home hadn't they, while the 170 S-D arrived later with the new 180 (08/1953) - from what's visible, they would have no chrome on the bonnet/hood louvers - this one has them, so not the 170 S-D? Also a year/type mismatch, and currently listed as S-D (that would rather be listed as a MY1954), while the first link above names it SD and is used by @andrepa Looks more like a 170 Db then, probably using the old German press tools? (apart from the quarterlight) -- Last edit: 2018-05-25 10:40:27 |
