![]() What else besides Lorraine-Dietrich would have a cross on the grille? |

Yes, just have to work out which year's race it is. |

I wonder if that cross is an optical illusion. The car looks like one of the Ballots that ran in the 1922 French Grand Prix. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1922_French_Grand_Prix -- Last edit: 2018-05-22 02:45:20 |

Got it! That's not a cross, it's an anchor on one of those Ballots! Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" |

The pic I found was of the Jules Goux car. There were two more, driven by Giulio Foresti and Ernest Freiderich. There was probably some significance of the anchor to one of those two. I see from the wiki page his Ballot in 1922 was #5. |

I found mention of Foresti and Giulio Masetti, not Freiderich, driving Ballots and an image of Masetti investigating the engine of the vehicle in question. http://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b53087060k The anchor supposedly has to do with Édouard Ballot being a former naval officer but that doesn't explain why it's only visible on one car. -- Last edit: 2018-05-23 00:02:14 |
