Standard Flying 10 - circa 1938. Flying 10 - an oxymoron?? Flying 8 even more so? Useful page of Standard photos - Link to "truck-uk.smugmug.com" -- Last edit: 2018-05-05 02:50:08 |

No, not as bad as you might think. Both models had a top speed in the sixties which was quite acceptable for thirties family fug box fours, only the light in weight Ford Ten Model C being comparable. The “flying” was, to my mind anyway, more of a pun on Standard and a reference to the streamlined shapes than anything else. Our Morris Ten SII certainly never saw a steady 60 iirc. My post war 103E Popular which was an Eight body with the Ten engine was distinctly difficult to coax above 60, I put a rod out of the side over driving it. BTW, beware some of the Model attributions in those Standard pictures, they ain’t right. -- Last edit: 2018-05-07 17:36:29 |

Other than the 1936 Mk.I, the Flying Ten had a single rear screen its most likely a 1936-1940 Flying Twelve, they all had the same basic bodies. The 1937-1940 Flying Ten Mk.II was based on an enlarged Nine. |
