2007-06-16 18:12 | I think it's the T-26E: A combination of the Vickers Mark E tank with the 45mm gun of a soviet T-26- they were used throughout World War II and into the late 1950s. Example of a T-26E http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Vickers6ton_front.JPG |
2007-06-19 12:52 | In 1945 the Finnish Army had 75 Russian built T-26 (Model 1933, 1937/38, 1939) captured during the Russo-Finnish war and 19 British built T-26E. The Vickers 6 Ton Light Tank Type B was purchased by the Finnish Army in 1938 and 1939, together 32 vehicles. The standard equipment was a 47 mm gun, but some had machine guns only. In 1939 some were fitted with the French Puteaux 37 mm gun, in 1940 one with a Swedish Bofors 37 mm gun. After capturing many T-26, the Soviet built versions of the slightly modified Vickers 6 Ton Light Tank, they were also used by the Finnish Army. The Soviet 45 mm L/46 gun was later also fitted to the Vickers built tanks and those were renamed T-26E. So far I cannot clearly identify, if it is a British or Soviet built tank. Therefore I would suggest to use the initial designer and manufacturer, Vickers, as make, and due to the L/46 gun 'T-26E' as model name. |
