Are you sure it's a Mercury?
Photos of stock trucks show "MERCURY" widely spaced on the front of the hood.
This does not have it (unless they've been removed).

BTW: The 2018 sequel "Christmas in Evergreen - Letters to Santa" has what was is supposed to be the same character truck...and it's badges are shown and it's a Ford F-100.
The small Ford emblem in the center of the hood would be covered by the wreath on this truck.

I agree with 14stutz, the truck was a Ford not a Mercury. I saw the same Ford truck hood badge in one scene during Letters To Santa, and a quick flash of the side badges on the rear of the hood which seemed larger than the M 100 used on the Mercury.

I am pretty sure I found the actual truck:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1953-ford-f-100-2/

The movie gussied up the wheels and used white wall tires and added the wood side rails but I am almost 100% sure this is the truck. At the beginning of Letters To Santa they showed a quick view of the flat head V-8 when the truck was broken down on the side of the road. I was rather impressed with the clean engine compartment and the bronze color of the engine. Scroll down a few photos on the site I included above. Sure looks like the same bronze colored engine to me.

Also note the amber parking light lenses in the front. None of the other 53 Ford or Mercury trucks have amber lenses that I could see on google images. The truck in the movie had the same amber lenses.

The truck has chrome dual exhaust pipes, in the photos above and in the movie. The only thing that appears different are the tail gate chains. In the movie one is shown and it does not have the black covers that are on the truck in the website above.

Last item the movie was filmed in Burnaby Village Museum, and the truck is for sale in Abbotsford, BC. Both locations are in the suburbs of Vancouver.

I am the same person as d7st3r, but now rev2 because I forgot my password and could not find a password recovery at this site.

Anyhow the third episode of Christmas In Evergreen, Tidings of Joy was on tonight. The red truck is a fixture in these movies. However, the wreath was not installed over the hood in this movie. The old Ford truck badge with the gear and lightening bolt was clearly visible on the hood. It is not a Mercury. I am still convinced that this is the same truck that I referenced in the above post. The parking lights have amber lenses which was not common for that time.

Here is a photo from the movie, note the hood badge.

This was my F-100. No Mercury's around when they wanted to start filming so they bought my Ford and put the wreaths and garland to cover the Ford emblems. After they bought it they figured out the star could not drive a standard so they would push it around the set.
Kinda cool having a Hallmark Christmas ornament of my old truck. I is a very good truck.

Not many Mercury trucks around but 16 years ago I found a guy in Saskatchewan who had 60 Mercury's behind the barn.. I bought two 1951 M-3's and still own one of them.
Great detective work by D7st3r.
