The 327 was the coupé version, this sedan model (based on the BMW 326) was always called 340, as far as I know. |

I found additional data on this one.The movie dating from 1951 it is not an EMW 340 but an Awtowelo BMW 340.Awtowelo was a Russian Group that resumed production of the prewar BMW's 321 and 326 in the Eisenach factory located in the Russian occupation zone. In fact , from end 1949 to 1951 ,a redesigned version of the 326 now coded 340 and using the original BMW 326 chassis continued to be sold as a BMW though produced in Eisenach and had the blue and white BMW logo .6300 units were produced by Awtowelo as BMW's. End 1951 the East-German factory was no longer allowed to use the BMW name , after trade mark infringement appeal by the BMW München home factory. At the same time the Russians returned the Eisenach factory to the East German authorities. All cars produced as from 1952 used the EMW ( Eisenacher Motorenwerke) red and white logo and were known as EMW's or IFA EMW's. |
