JCR 622D was Southampton issue, December 66. Cabriolet sales in UK were very low key - best info I can find is we got the DS19 from Aug 1962 to Sept 1965, then DS21 for Feb-November 1966 only. No other versions or dates. Seems Pallas wheel covers and twin lights here, so looks right as one of the few 1966 imports.

More info from here via this entry for another example - "..... One of only 50-or-so RHD examples delivered to the UK between 1962 and 1966, this Citroën DS Décapotable was first registered on 22 June 1966 to a Mr Dowman of New Milton, Hampshire. It was one of only six Décapotables imported into the UK in '66, which was the last year of UK sales for the RHD version."

Are these Décapotables or Cabriolets? We have both names for the DS21 and I'd guess Cabriolet was more likely name for UK???

The 'Cabriolet' title superseded 'Décapotable' from the 1965 model year (i.e. from August 1964). All DS21s were therefore cabriolets as they superseded the DS or ID 19s one year later, for the 1966 model year (i.e. from August 1965).

Updated information. This car was built in late 1965, and was registered JCR 622D on 29 April 1966 in Southampton. Colour changed after "Freewheelers". Registration changed to 'cherished' number in 1976. Car still exists.

"Usine by Chapron" = "Factory by Chapron" ??

What do French speakers and Chapron luminaries think? Does this sound right? There are six of those on imcdb.
By the way official name of Chapron found in chassis id plates and nomenclature is "Henri Chapron Carrossier"

1966 MY with no doubt. 1985/2175 cc engines were available for Sept 1965.

^ Possibly that this is the factory approved coachwork for a drophead coupé on that model, engineering of the conversion approved by the Citroën engineering department, but work done by Chapron. There is probably more to re-engineering a DS into an open car than first meets the eye as there is no conventional chassis to bolt bits onto.

Sounds logical and maybe that is what is meant. But it looks kind of weird to me. Anyway moving on...
