I almost want to say it's a '39 Cadillac Fleetwood series 75,but I'm not really sure?? |

I'd go for a 1937 Buick (by the size, the fenders, the spare wheel and the bumpers) but somehow I've got the impression that the bodywork is british...? |

I agree that its looks british. Its not a 37 buick - the rear end is completely wrong. |

Not British for me.... hub caps wings and spare wheel trim look wrong looks American I think. Number not found - it also has CD plates so represents a diplomatic car so could it be another European make? |

This is a 1937 Buick Limited model 91 with a special limousine body by Thrupp & Maberly of England. The hubcaps used by Thrupp & Maberly were not Buick. The style of the car is typically English, with a high body, reminiscent of Thrupp & Maberly big Humbers. Not as elegant as the original! A similar car is listed in G.H. Dammann's 70 years of Buick with a UK number plate JM 3643 so maybe more than one unit was produced in this style. It is possibly a right hand drive McLaughlin-Buick chassis , but pictures do not allow for identification |

Yes, pilou has right! This is a 1937 Buick Limited model 91 with a special limousine body by Thrupp & Maberly, on a right hand- drive McLaughlin-Buick chassis, with still royal emblems on the rear doors, I did sit in this car this morning,it is still a nice car, more than 30 years in warm-storage, black leather in the front and grey bedfordcord in the rear,and... real buffelskin on the floor in the rear, and a telefhone-system to give the driver instructions. -- Last edit: 2008-02-05 12:56:30 |
