| Are you sure 1500 was part of the name? ... I'm sure about the 1600, it did was part of it, but for the 1500 , as it was the 1st issue , I'm not sure ... could someone confirm? |

| I'd agree, I don't think 1500 was part of the model name. Maybe it's been used unofficially since the introduction of the 1600, but there wouldn't be any reason for using it initially. |

| http://www.car-brochures.nl/ This site has some good images of MG brochures. It shows quite clearly that engine size was not mentioned until the MK II 1600 was introduced. |
