Think this may actually be a Borderer (from 1970 on ) , the rad grille on this is the later false fibre glass one . See- /vehicle.php?id=720951 -- Last edit: 2017-07-18 08:52:52 |

This would seem to be a Mk.2 'Silver Knight', shown by its 9' 6" wheelbase and 54 gallon tank. The Mk.2 cab pre-dates the Borderer by some time, having first been shown at the 1967 Scottish Show, whilst the Borderer (with the same Mk. 2 cab) was shown at the 1970 Earls Court Show/ The wide front wings covering the 5.5T Kirkstall front axle, were applied to the Mk.1 cab, and first shown at the 1966 Earls Court Show. Front wings on Mk.2 cabs are universal to all models except those with the headlights set in the bumper, and the Mk.2 has virtually no parts in common with the Mk.1 Most J-reg tractors were 'Silver Knights', as Borderer production didn't really get going until early 1971 Is this the livery of Pace Petroleum? -- Last edit: 2017-09-11 19:46:23 |

Just spotted the plate AAE 591J in 3rd thumb = Bristol Oct-Nov 70. Does that resolve Borderer vs Silver Knight, or did they overlap?? |

They overlap, but the chassis is clearly Knight rather than Borderer |
