I know this is the sort of thing I normally carp about, saying something like "ten minutes work with a screwdriver", but, as they left Birmingham when new, 4/50 one spotlamp, 6/80 two spotlamps. Would it be likely that "they" had taken one off a 6/80? On the other hand, I have just found some pictures in this archive where the offside spotlamp has been replaced by the electric bell, so maybe it's a 6/80 after all, without its bell. Marvellous how the almost straight on camera positions hide any identification clues. If the driver was accelerating, the trail of oil smoke behind the six cylinder engine would be bigger than the four. I've just checked the production quantities, 6/80 24,886; 4/50 8,955. From some reserach, this vehicle is a 6/80, first registered in Andover in Oct 1950. This and another Hampshire car JHO 639 appeared in several Films of the period. -- Last edit: 2018-01-26 21:35:15 |
