They were actually sold as Police Interceptors as early as 1992. There's a entire situation about Crown Victorias and IMCDB just hasn't actually adopted the change (1992+ Crown Victorias were named "Police Interceptor" or "Commercial Taxi Package" but theres confusion around what the chassis code was, since it was thought that 1992 model fleet specification cars all had the [P72] code no matter the trim (I don't even know if that's even true) and since a certain person found it rough to sort the cars out he just delabeled all of the 1992s.) 1993-1998s were also called Police Interceptor's (as per brochures, it's possible this designation was used as far back as 1990-1991) but until a year ago it was just normal to mark them as [P71] and nothing else. I even put a request to mass organize the Crown Victoria (there's a LOT of them) but nothing has come of it so far (I assume there's just too many and nobody has the time to actually fix anything)

It is true that the P71 VIN code and "Police Interceptor" were not used until 1993. The 1992 "Police Package" could be ordered on a P73 Standard Series or P72 Commercial Package (still internally called Crown Victoria S). 1992 was also the year of the P75 Crown Victoria Touring.

That was one of the brochures I found that gave me the idea of rearranging the Crown Victorias around. Most of the Police Package cars on the site are Commercial Package [P72]'s anyway, so could they be named Police Package [P72]?

Imported a police spec Crown Vic to France for 7000 USD + 1500 boat + 3000 EUR tax...
Still on California plates so papers not in order yet.
