1970 Challenger R/T. I don't know if the car is a real R/T, but if not it's a really good clone. It has the full R/T-style interior, with buckets, Rallye-pack gauges, and center console. The R/T-exclusive exterior pieces, such as the dual-scooped hood and optional Go-Wing, are also present. Car is equipped with a Torqueflite automatic transmission, but I could never read the hood callouts in the show, so I can't tell what engine is (allegedly) under the hood. The stripes are 1970 R/T style stripes, but possibly custom done...1970 R/T stripes were available in blue (as well as red, green, and more common black or white), but I'm not sure if this is the right shade and also blue, red, or green stripes are VERY rare on 1970 R/Ts. In the show, the driver's sister does mistakenly say it's a '72 model, but when you see a picture of him and the car right after she says that, it's unmistakenly a 1970 model. With vehicles being such an important part of the show, you'd think there would be SOMEONE around on the set that has a clue, or you'd think they'd consider a consultant to make sure the characters aren't making such blatant factual mistakes. What probably happened is that the script specified a '72 but they had to make do with a '70 instead, and no-one remembered to change the dialogue. |
