when GMC renamed it Sierra, i think they stopped using the C/K designation ( but maybe they were still used in the option list )

GM still uses the C and K designation internally for both Chevrolet and GMC full size trucks and sport utilites to this day.

@Baube:
I didn't find any document with a "K" mention for the 1988+ GMC / 1999+ Chevrolet light-duty trucks, for now. Which doesn't mean this is not possible, but I really wonder why GM would have used it after the end of the C/K-Series.
Even the C-Something model names used for Kodiaks and TopKicks from 1996 onward were not totally related to the C/K nomenclature: if C was still for Conventional cab, there were 4x4 C-Something trucks...
