If you look carefully, "at the 38kb pic" you can see that they didnt drop the girder on a real Nomad, they substituted a modified 4dr wagon with welded and filled back door. I jumped outta my chair when this episode originally aired. Tim Allen came on after the show, standing next to His Nomad...undamaged and explained the trick.

That's some great bodywork to turn a 4 door into a fake Nomad, I know these cars pretty well and I couldn't tell the difference when I saw the show. I guess they used some front doors from a two door and welded up the back half of the rear doors? The roofline and B-pillars looks pretty good too though you can see it lacks the Nomad parallel styling lines across the rear of the roof.
Anyone got any other pics of the damaged car?

sorry, it's a very poor copy of the Nomad (see the doors) and it should be labeled as a "made for movie", not as a Nomad.

:??: I thought that the main picture was the real one
So what is it? Just a 210?

Sure. Two Ten or One Fifty. A chrome brow above the headlights and chrome line on the fender have been added to mimick the Nomad.

It is definitely a 1955 Bel Air Nomad. Look on the side. The roof pillar is angled forward. Regular Chevy station wagons had pillars that were straight. Only Nomads were angled.

Also, Tim Allen actually owned this car and he sold it at a charity auction in either 2000 or 2001.

It is a Nomad. It is seen from good angles in multiple episodes where the is clear views of the nomad only b pillar. Also here is a picture of Tim and his nomad with Jay Leno. Look through the window to the driver side. Nomad only tilted B-pillar. Name on the page should have been changed long ago imo.

The smashed '55 could be a Handyman, those are already two doors. But it doesn't matter if it's not a Nomad. Not even a Beauville, Handyman or Townsman deserve to be treated like that.

No dumbass movie or TV show is worth destroying a classic car. of any kind.

Ok heres some shots of the episode (possibly behind the scene?) The REAL Nomad used in the show drives up and then the whole switcharoo. Def. not a Nomad that gets hammered!

The last thumbnail provided by afcop3ggt shows that is probably the 1955 Chevrolet Two-Ten Handyman with the side of modification to look like the Bel Air Nomad trim with the 'Bel Air' badge at the rear.

Handyman,210 whatever...I would have driven that they way it is no matter how rusty it is inside lol. I would have thought Tim Allen was enough of a car guy that he would have never have done this to any vintage metal. These days anything in good enough shape to be painted like that, can be restored even if it is extreme.

I would increase the rating of this car to 4 since it appears in later season quite a lot !!

There's no way the crushed car was a Handyman. It clearly has four doors, not two.

But no matter what it is, I agree with stpaulcarguy. No movie or TV show is worth destroying a classic.
