European style headlights but USA market bumper guards. It looks to me a 280 SL for the flatter hub cups but I am not sure. |

2nd thumb shows 280SL wheel covers, but a US 280SL should have sidemarkers. |

I doubt this is a 280 SL because it doesn't have the bigger door mirrors fitted as (almost) standard from 1968 and it has a chromed inside rear view mirror. That changed to a black one a few weeks before the change from 250 SL to 280 SL. I find it much more likely to be a 230 SL or a 250 SL than a 280 SL, and more likely to be a 230 SL than a 250 SL because of the numbers built (19.831 against 5.196). |
