Did you know that these Rovers are being sold in China now. Sold under the name "Roewe."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roewe
Zitat Roewe is an automobile marque created by the Chinese firm Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), to use on the cars it plans to build based on the MG Rover technology it has bought.

The marque will appear first on the company's new version of the Rover 75, called Roewe 750. Roewe will be publicly launched at the November Motor Show in Beijing in 2006, where the revised 75 will be on display. The car is expected to be larger than the equivalent MG Rover model, but share some similar components such as parts of the interior and the engines[2]. Over 30 new models are expected to be launched under the marque between 2006 and 2011, whilst 120,000 Roewe cars are expected to be produced by SAIC in 2007.

The use of the Roewe name is due to SAIC's inability to buy the rights to the Rover name from BMW due to Ford Motor Company exercising their option on the name. The Roewe name and badge were meant to be similar to the Rover name and badge because of this.

In fact two different Chinese companies have bought Rover assets. It's all very complicated. The short answer is that MG Rover sold the rights to the 75 to SAIC while they were negotiating for a partnership and eventual acquisition. When MG Rover went into administration (like Chapter 11 in the US), the administrators rejected a bid from SAIC and sold all the remaining assets to Nanjing Automobile.

Zitat * 2004: MG Rover enters talks with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) about a possible collaboration.
* 2005: The proposed collaboration Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) collapses, forcing the company into administration and insolvency.
* 2005: Nanjing Automobile Group acquires the entire assets of MG Rover.
* 2005/06: Nanjing Automobile Group announces to build cars at Longbridge after signing a deal to lease the site for 33 years.
* 2006: SAIC sets up a new company called Roewe and now builds a car based on the Rover 75 platform called the Roewe 750.
* 2006: Ford buys the rights to the Rover marque, meaning that only the MG badge will be used on the new range of Nanjing-built cars. Nanjing announces the possibility of relaunching the Austin marque for a new generation of cars which are planned for a launch in 2008.
* 2007: Nanjing Automobile Group restarts MG TF production at Longbridge, initially creating 250 jobs.

Nanjing Automobile has a plan to make cars in Oklahoma, presumably for the North American market.
Link to "en.wikipedia.org"
Zitat On July 12, 2006 senior officials of Nanjing Automobile Corporation announced the revival of the historic MG brand of vehicles, as well as plans to build a new MG product in Oklahoma, with the formation of MG Motors North America, Inc., in a ceremony in Oklahoma City.

MG vehicles will not only be built in Nanjing, China, but also at the Longbridge assembly plant near Birmingham, England and at a new American assembly plant to be built at the Ardmore Air Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Headquarters for MG sales, marketing and distribution (outside of Asia) will be located in Oklahoma City. Research and development will be in Norman at the University of Oklahoma.

...

The company expects to start construction of the Ardmore assembly facility early in 2007 with production to start by the third quarter of 2008.

However, as of the beginning of 2007, there have been reports of quarreling between the Americans partners and Nanjing Auto over differences of opinion regarding MG's future. Some people speculate that the Americans are impatient with Nanjing, who seem to be more heavily favouring the existing British Longbridge factory and their own Chinese operations over the planning of the US factory. There is also believed to be extensive cultural difference between the Chinese and the Americans that are causing rifts.

Just a note: the "auto" in the model name just means "car": most of the time the name ends by "auto" in the DVLA info, it is not part of the model name or trim level then.
About the trim level, "Connoisseur", I always find funny to see that "English" word, which is actually taken from old French. "Here" the word evolved and became "connaisseur" :D

I would agree 'Auto' on DVLA and other car search sites should indicate automatic.

This is one of the essential parts of the description that must be advised by the dealer when selling and registering the car from new I believe.

There are too many/often cars that include "auto" in their name on that site for being "automatic" I think.
Automatic isn't in all cases part of the name anyway. It is often just an option like A/C, GPS, etc. :D
