Did you know that these Rovers are being sold in China now. Sold under the name "Roewe." |

Made in Oklahoma too. How's that for irony. |

In fact two different Chinese companies have bought Rover assets. It's all very complicated. The short answer is that MG Rover sold the rights to the 75 to SAIC while they were negotiating for a partnership and eventual acquisition. When MG Rover went into administration (like Chapter 11 in the US), the administrators rejected a bid from SAIC and sold all the remaining assets to Nanjing Automobile. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MG_Rover_Group#1986.E2.80.932007_timeline Nanjing Automobile has a plan to make cars in Oklahoma, presumably for the North American market. Just a note: the "auto" in the model name just means "car": most of the time the name ends by "auto" in the DVLA info, it is not part of the model name or trim level then. About the trim level, "Connoisseur", I always find funny to see that "English" word, which is actually taken from old French. "Here" the word evolved and became "connaisseur" -- Last edit: 2007-03-06 10:36:37 |

I took 'Auto' as being an Automatic (gearbox) |

I would agree 'Auto' on DVLA and other car search sites should indicate automatic. This is one of the essential parts of the description that must be advised by the dealer when selling and registering the car from new I believe. |

There are too many/often cars that include "auto" in their name on that site for being "automatic" I think. Automatic isn't in all cases part of the name anyway. It is often just an option like A/C, GPS, etc. -- Last edit: 2007-03-06 12:03:11 |
