sixcyl ◊ 2007-02-20 18:11	Is "Open Tourer" the exact name of "convertible", then we should rename all the others... there are also some named "Droped Head"... About the SW also, we find "Traveller" and "Countryman" .... is some housework necessary on Morris Minor list?
wrenchhead ◊ 2007-02-20 18:36	Those are good questions, unfortunately I don't know the answer. I do know that some terms are used mainly for British cars. Drop head coupe, fixed head coupe, tourer, estate, saloon, etc. I sort of doubt that they are official names. However, my MGB is a 'Tourer' according to what is written on the name plate.
Sunbar ◊ 2007-02-20 19:08	1964 MY 1098cc larger indicators/sidelights. Early Minors were certainly called tourers and later ones (probably the majority) were advertised as convertibles. Just a personal opinion but unlike Traveller it was not part of the model name but how it was described in advertising and I think both can be correct.

Firstly 998cc (therefore 1000) but when the engine was increased to 1098cc it was not re-named as "Morris Minor 1100" but remained the Minor 1000. edit: I had it wrong anyway..... from 1963 model year onwards it was 1098cc not 998cc. -- Last edit: 2007-02-20 22:17:14
Sunbar ◊ 2007-02-23 14:33	The name 'Tourer' was only in use for the first few months of production of the Morris Minor Tourer (MM series) changing to Morris Minor Convertible (MM series) with the introduction of glass side screens from April 1951. All the following models (Morris Minor and Morris Minor 1000) from 1952 to the last built in 1969 were officially called 'Convertible'.
