Was R12 avaiable in DDR? It can be also a decal on Dacia. Confirmed Eastern Block states where original R12 was officially to get (next to Dacias) in the 1970s are Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and Poland. |

There existed some original R12 in the DDR, but all of them were non-official imports. Some Dacia-owners tried to pimp their car back to the original, so Dacias with Renault-decals appeared in the DDR. |

But it doesn't have to mean that it was its 1st registration, right? |

No, not necessarily, especially not, when it's a non-officially imported car. Many of those had no official papers and the local traffic-authority had no clue about it, so they got phantasy-datas in the newly issued DDR-papers. Actually the most of non-officially imported (so not via GENEX or official order as the 1977 Golf, the GSA, the Mazda 323 and the Volvo 244 DLS) Western cars have no correct papers. Two plate-fellows collect these DDR-Fahrzeugbriefe of Western cars - nearly all of them contain wrong datas. P.S. Purzel89 is still wrong about the plates. Those are not the new 1976+ TGL-version. -- Last edit: 2016-01-25 20:10:13 |
