A couple of weeks ago, I saw a car around here with yellow headlights. I forget what it was though.

Those headlights were optionals to any car both W108 and W111 series, but standart item on big block V-8s. It may be a 6.3.

Already when the W 111 was introduced, car magazines complained the lights on full beam wasn't quite up to standard. I believe I've read that the maximum speed with full beam was roughly 80-90 km/h (50+ mph), not much compared with the speed possible to achive.
Hence it's no wonder why many high end Mercedes were fitted with extra lights, and especially long distance travellers (like salesmen) swapped the lights when it became possible to order.

About trying to identify this particular car, I cannot see any additional chrome around the side windows.
Either I have bad eyesight or this is W 108, and if so at least a 280 S. As far as I know, no W 108 were ever fitted with the 6.3 engine.

Are there any more close up captures of the window frames, or the interior?

All the 6.3 references I've ever seen say it was SEL only. There's another thing about the 6.3 that's always bothered me but I've never been able to put my finger on what it exactly is. I've been convinced that the radiator is bigger than lesser models - compare for instance /vehicle_528049-Mercedes-Benz-300-SEL-63-W109-1971.html and /vehicle_858195-Mercedes-Benz-300-SEL-63-W109-1970.html . I think it's 2 things (1) the sides on a 6.3 are not exactly vertical but widen slightly as they go upwards, plus (2) the grille is deeper with more mesh area at the bottom - so while ordinary ones have only 3 cross bars and stop at bumper level, 6.3 has a fourth bar at bumper level and a few rows of mesh below this 4th bar (although this can get hidden by number plate. Anyone else see these differences??

And just to avoid confusion, I don't think this one is in any way a 6.3. 280 S looks good to me here.

looking the side view, I agree the car is a W108 280S/SE, second type wheel covers, so that 1970 is perfect.
